Farmers usually ask these questions
Here we answer some of the questions commonly asked by farmers in and out of the farming season.
Varieties are selected based on the specific agro-ecological regions that spread across the country, considering factors such as climate, soil type, water availability, and local agricultural practices. This ensures optimal growth conditions, higher yields, and sustainability of the crops in their respective environments.
The optimum plant population for maize typically ranges from 36,000 to 60,000 plants per hectare. This range can vary depending on various factors such as soil fertility, climate conditions, and specific maize hybrid characteristics. Properly managing plant density is crucial for maximizing yield, as overcrowding can lead to competition for resources, while too few plants can result in underutilization of the available space and resources.
Valley Seeds packages its maize seeds in kernels to facilitate easy determination of plant population during planting and to simplify the seed purchasing process.
